Succesful Foro Report-back at the Brecht Fourm

The NYC Delegation to the Puerto Rico Social Forum held a report-back event at the Brecht Forum in downtown Manhattan this past Thursday, December 7. Delegation members shared their experiences at the Foro, conversed about ongoing struggles in Puerto Rico (such as the growing community movement against evictions and the student movement's fight against the privatization of the UPR Theater), and discussed plans for participation in upcoming social forums. Participants agreed to keep in touch through the Delegation listserv and blog, and to work together to participate at the U.S. Social Forum in the Summer of 2007, and the next Puerto Rico Social Forum, whenever it is finally decided it will take place. A photo slideshow of the Foro prepared by Yasmin Hernandez was presented. Panelists included graphic artist Yasmin Hernandez; Cesar Rosado, of Brooklyn Parents for Peace; Howard Caro-Lopez, of Mundo Real; Fernando Reals, of the Palestine Solidarity Project; and Louis Zweibel, of Art for Change. Members of the Global Action Project were unable to attend the report-back, but sent their greetings and best wishes.
